Martial Arts Weapons Sai
The Assassin has the ability to use 3 different types of weapons: Daggers, Swords, and Bows. However it is really more like two different types of weapons, because you’re not really going to use a Bow as your primary weapon for PVP or PVE.
For people who have more experience playing MMORPGs, you are probably thinking that “Assassin uses daggers as primary, and swords as maybe an offhand weapon” and that is exactly what I thought when I played Assassin in Aion the first time. In every other MMORPG I have played which has a class like Rogue, Assassin, or Thief, their primary weapons of choice are daggers, and then they might use a sword offhand for damage.
Most of those games’ Assassin’s or its
corresponding archetypical classes have no choice but to use a dagger as their primary weapon, because their backstabs skills require it. Aion has this weird thing where you can perform any Assassin skill as long as your equipped with a sword or a dagger, which means you can even perform your backstabs skill with a sword – in fact many high level Assassins do use swords as their primary weapon and dagger or another sword as their offhand weapon.
There are a lot debates and discussion around the topic of whether it’s better to use two sword, two dagger, dagger primary and sword offhand, or sword primary and dagger offhand. In short, the sword does more damage, and the dagger is faster and causes critical damage more often, but there are a lot more factors involved for choosing the best set of weapons for your character; something which we will get into later on in this guide.
